Code of Conduct

Guiding the Franchisee/Franchisor Relationship

One of the real positives about working within the Franchise Industry is that it is governed by a "Code of Conduct". This code is regulated by the ACCC and has been done so since 1998.

The Code Of Conduct is all about managing the relationship between the Franchisee and the Franchisor. The Code offers a strong degree of guidance and certainly a level of reassurance to both parties.

The Code sets out a series of guidelines that governs...

  • The content and conditions set out in the Franchise Agreement
  • Details of what a Franchisor needs to disclose to a Franchisee prior to taking on a Franchise - as outlined in his Disclosure Statement
  • The course of action that both parties need to take to resolve any disputes that arise

It makes good business sense for both franchisees and franchisors to become very familiar with the Franchising Code of Conduct. These can be accessed by the links below.
